Criminal Complaint Filed Against Colorado GOP Leaders for Electoral Process Violation

Colorado Springs, CO — A criminal complaint was filed today with the 4th Judicial District Attorney's office by Joshua Griffin, alleging serious violations of Colorado Revised Statutes (CRS) 1-13-301 by State Chair Dave Williams and El Paso County Chairwoman Vickie Tonkins. The statute addresses fraud at precinct caucuses, assemblies, or conventions, prohibiting any dishonest, corrupt, or fraudulent acts by persons in positions of authority within electoral processes.

The complaint stems from actions taken by Williams and Tonkins, accused of misusing their roles to withhold crucial delegate lists from candidates, including Joshua Griffin. This withholding is said to severely impede the democratic process, preventing effective communication and support-seeking from elected delegates, thus potentially altering the outcome of primary elections unjustly.

On March 13, 2024, Joshua Griffin initiated inquiries about the availability of the delegate list for the 5th Congressional District, only to be informed it was not ready. Subsequent communications revealed that opponent Dave Williams had already accessed and distributed this information, despite official claims of its unavailability. This sequence of events highlights a concerning lack of transparency and fairness in the distribution of critical electoral information.

The actions in question not only disadvantaged certain candidates but also compromised the integrity of the electoral process within the Republican Party in El Paso County, going against the spirit of democracy and fair play.

Joshua Griffin has taken this step, motivated by the belief in the necessity of working together to ensure the integrity of elections. By addressing these issues head-on, the aim is to foster a more transparent, fair, and democratic electoral process moving forward.

Included with the press release are attachments of the criminal complaint and other relevant documents, underscoring a commitment to transparency and providing all necessary information regarding this matter.

Joshua Griffin remains committed to keeping the public informed as the situation develops and is available to discuss any concerns or questions. This effort underscores a dedication to an electoral system that truly reflects the will of the people and upholds the democratic values cherished by the community.
